(17) Blue Rug Juniper from the front I bought this Blue Rug Juniper at Stop & Shop last May. It was scrunched horizontally into a 2-gallon pot (hence the great curves), and I replanted it as an upright with the help of the Greater Hartford Bonsai Society. This May, I shaped it and wired it (again with help from the Great Hartford Bonsai Society), and now I'm trying to learn to effectively manage the foliage. It lost about 2/3 of it's folidage, but no roots, so it's growing well, especially after the move to our new apartment where it gets much more sun. I plant to reduce the roots this fall, and cut the training pot to about half the current depth. By next spring, I hope to have an appropriate pot for it (probably a medium-depth earthy oval) so I can work the roots and make it a real bonsai. Buy My Rug! From Mandalay, I took a boat to Bagan. I remembered the boat broke down. These Burmese are trying to sell the rugs to the tourists on board the ship. They throw the rugs on board the ship, and the tourists scrutinized them and offer a price. Money is thrown down to them if the offer goes through. P.S: Another scanned pic from Myanmar trip 2001. I should have taken a zoomed shot of this. But, the next zoomed shot was already at the wrong angle as the boat goes near to the bank.
